ENGINEERING
Why Study Engineering With Us?
Engineering covers a wide range of disciplines and teaches the fundamentals of logical thinking and critical analysis. It is ideal for students who enjoy problem solving and stretching their creativity in order to overcome challenges. Our students will cover the fundamentals of the first year of an undergraduate degree as well taking on some practical activities which will allow them to experience the variety of studying Engineering at university.
Engineering is a degree which provides students a wide range of transferable skills, applicable to industry and business — indeed, Engineering is the most common undergraduate degree among Fortune 500 CEOs. If students are interested in applying their knowledge to complex situations in order to solve problems, then Engineering is right for them.

Application Guidance
Our Engineering course is ideal for students considering an application to a top UK university and would like to explore whether the subject is right for them. As well as covering core undergraduate content—both theoretical and practical—we help students understand the application process and learn what they can do now in order to be prepared.
As well as expert Subject Tutors, we also have a Personal Statements and UCAS Expert on our team who will run an interactive workshop with students to give insider guidance on how best to approach an application.
We cover all aspects of the application process in detail, through a range of interactive seminars and discussions. We consider the pre-application preparation required, from writing a personal statement to making the right choice when it comes to colleges and universities. Students will also spend time learning about the post application process, after the UCAS form has been submitted, which includes the ESAT, PAT and Oxbridge interviews.
What is included?
10+ hours of live Engineering sessions, led by our expert tutors
10+ additional hours of live interactive teaching
30+ hours of directed learning throughout the week
A one-to-one Oxbridge-style tutorial
Live guest lecture from a leading Oxbridge Academic
Application workshops, from personal statements to mock interviews
Engineering reading list and lecture guide
Certificate on completion of the course
Example Timetable
Add-ons
Included in our course fees are a range of sessions designed to help students prepare for their application to study Engineering at a top UK University. The entire admissions process is covered, from writing Personal Statements to strategies for approaching Admissions Tests and preparing for interviews.
Students who are applying for Engineering this year may opt for additional personalised specialist support. These optional extras would begin during the Summer School, and continue afterwards, to help students prepare for their upcoming application.

Personal Statement Consultation
The Personal Statement is a key part of any university application and the student’s opportunity to demonstrate passion for their subject. We understand a Personal Statement is a long-term project and we have designed a 2-hour package which guides and supports students through the writing process.
During the Summer School, students will have an initial 1-hour consultation with a Subject Specialist to set out a plan on how to develop and strengthen their Personal Statement over the coming months.
After the Summer School, students will meet with our Personal Statements Expert before the UCAS deadline, once they have had a chance to work on their Statement. In another 1-hour consultation, our expert will work to improve the tone, flow and make any final suggestions before submission.
Admissions Tests
We have designed and produced both an ESAT paper (for Cambridge) and a PAT paper (for Oxford), and students may purchase a test package alongside the Summer School at a reduced rate. The test paper exactly replicates the style of the original paper, and the package comes complete with a mark scheme, full solutions and a question-by-question video walk-through. These tests cannot be found elsewhere online and are entirely unique, therefore fully replicating the Admissions Test experience for the student.
Mock Interviews
Students can also add a Mock Interview to their Summer School course. Interviews are one of the most important parts of an application and for students making an application this year, a baseline interview in the summer is an excellent way to prepare. A baseline interview allows students to work on their development points throughout the autumn and perhaps undertake additional Mock Interviews closer to the time to hone their skills.
Our Mock Interviews are conducted by our specialist tutors with Oxford and Cambridge interview experience. They last 45 minutes: 30 minutes for the interview, followed by 15 minutes of verbal feedback, discussing how the interview went and points for improvement. Students will also receive a detailed written report, which explains the content of the interview, assesses the student’s critical thinking and analytic skills, gives notes on their interview style and explains how they can improve next time.
